Happy Wednesday!
It’s your mid-week gal pal Jessica, chatting with you this week about sunscreens.
I LOVE the sun and I am a total beach bum. In the summer I make it my mission to be at the beach in all of my free time! I could never live anywhere that wasn’t by a beach and ocean. I will be dreaming of my happy memories of my beach-going adventures as I am dealing with endless amount of snow six months from now. The sacrifice of suffering through Maine winters to see amazing Maine summers is well worth it :)
Even though everyone in Florida or California probably makes fun of us in the East Coast for what we call a summer, the sun can still be strong…especially for those of us who cover up 8 months out of the year and have truly white, sheltered skin.
This is where SPF comes into play! I know this will sound bad, but I always feel like a good burn at the start of summer will help break in my skin and set it up for a good tan…I know some of you readers are probably shaking your heads in disapproval right now, but to help ease your minds I have since been turned on by the idea of a tanning lotion with SPF.
My favorite is Hawaiian Tropics tanning lotion with SPF 6. SPF 6 might not seem like enough protection for some people but for me it is just right and I always reapply throughout my time sitting in the sun. Sadly the regulations for sunscreens will be changing and soon anything below a SPF 15 will no longer be on the shelves.
When this change comes into effect I will not be completely sad by the change because my love for Hawaiian Tropics will live on with their amazing line of Skin Beauty Protection, SPF 15 Sheer Touch lotion and the dazzling SPF 20 Shimmer Effect Lotion.
Hawaiian Tropics are by far my Go-To sun care brand because they offer products I am crazy about and the scent makes me SO HAPPY! Even in the depressing dead of winter I keep my Hawaiian Tropic products handy, simply for a mood booster…I can be transported instantly to my relaxing beach memories with the scent.
For anyone with tattoos, like me, it is VERY crucial to protect the color and integrity of the ink with a higher level SPF. I always apply at least an SPF 30 to all of my artwork. I have found the best SPF for tats is emerginC broad spectrum sun protector SPF 30+. This sunscreen has ultimate protection while nourishing my skin with vitamins and active botanicals.
So go ahead…slap on the sunscreen and hit the beach! When your skin is protected you have nothing to worry about and you can focus your attention on more important things…like warding off food begging seagulls or trying to pretend that you’re not bothered by the old man in a Speedo.
Until next week…I'll be at the beach, ENJOY!
