Yes, it is Wednesday and the first official full week back after the holidays. So to lift your spirits this week we are talking about scents that relax you after a long, stressful work day. In fact, all of January is Relax month as we will discuss at home spa treatments and remedies to put you in a good space again!
I love scented candles, who doesn't?? They make your home smell amazing and are perfect ambiance for when you have company over. Different people do like different degrees of scent however, meaning some like strong powerful fragrance consuming the air of the home (that would be me) and other like just a hint of scent throughout the house. It is easy to achieve the level you want by how long you let a candle burn.
Occasionally I will light incents, but they have their own distinct scent and I have to be in the mood for that. Primarily I have two ways to scent my home, a small plug-in Scentsy unit and scented candles.
Now I am sure by now most of you know what Scentsy is, probably have gone to some of the party people have or seen it in someone's home. These things are awesome! I only have the plug-in, but it works so well! It's basically a plug in unit with a bulb in it that melts wax blocks you put into the top. They have TONS of scents to choose from. The blocks of wax last for a while, depending on how often or how long you keep it on. I usually put it on as soon as I get home and leave it on for a few hours then turn it off. When you feel like the wax no longer has scent to it you just pop it out and put a fresh block in. Scentsy has a huge variety of the wax bricks, but when I want a new scent now it is easy to just go to Walmart and pick up their version of the Scentsy bricks. They have a collection by Home and Garden wax blocks that are equally as amazing with the scents. I currently have Blueberry Muffin (which makes me crave blueberry muffins as soon as I turn it on!), Warm Crackling Camp Fire (another favorite), Lemongrass (I save for spring/summer), and Spice Cake (another mouth watering scent that causes cravings...be careful). It is plugged into my kitchen so it scents the kitchen and bathroom very nicely.
What I use to scent the rest of my apartment (entryway, living room and bedroom) is a scented candle. When I can splurge (because I feel like it's crazy to spend more than $6 on a candle sometimes) I tend to go for the Yankee Candle collections. However, this time while I was out shopping with a friend before Christmas and she convinced me to go in on a holiday deal at Bath and Body Works, two candles for $20. Seemed crazy to spend $10 on a candle but I was feeling festive and I did need a new scented candle so I went in on the deal with her. After a hard choice of scents I choose the Fire Wood one and my friend picked the aromatherapy Stress Relief - Eucalyptus Spearmint candle. As soon as I got home I lit my candle and it immediately scented my place and it was...WOW, amazing! My friend had her's going when I went to visit her on New Years Eve and that also was truly a mood booster. It is such a relaxing and refreshing feeling to have a candle going and to fee the warm scents that surround you. It makes me feel so cozy on cold winter nights :)
I hope these recommendations helped and you stay warm, cozy and relaxed after your work day! What are some of your favorite scents for your home??? I would LOVE to know.
Until next time, Keep on Being Beautiful YOU!
