XOXO!

What a better day to review lipsticks than this?!? Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Whether you’re having a romantic night in, hitting the town with a date, hanging with friends, watching the inevitable lineup of rom coms, or simply boycotting this “Hallmark holiday” altogether, chances are you’d like to look a little more luscious than usual today. Any day with an unofficial uniform of red means you’re gonna get noticed more than usual...so why not take this opportunity to draw attention to those lovely lips of yours?!?

I don’t know about you, but I rarely wear lipstick during the day (I’ve always coveted those glamorous women who do!); come nighttime though I like to experiment with all sorts of fun shades. And on special occasions like tonight you can BET I’ll wear something good. As mentioned last week, you want to create a clean surface for lipstick by exfoliating regularly with a product like Sara Happ’s lip scrub.

Flaky lips aren’t good for lipstick application, kissing, or anything really, so this is a must! Once lips are prepped, color choice depends on mood, outfit, and in my case, eye makeup (I never wear a lot of eye makeup with a bold lip; its one or the other for this girl!).

In addition to color, I’m a real stickler for lipstick texture and staying power. As usual, I’d rather buy one quality product that lasts into the night, but doesn’t dry out my lips. All three products below fit this bill.

While I’m certainly not a color expert (that’s left to Grayce!), I’ve found a few shades that fit well with my tone—dark brown hair and eyes, with warmer skin.

Without further ado, my three favorite lipsticks right now (pictured top to bottom, and left to right, in the order listed) are: Bare Minerals’ Rose Crepe (for pretty much any occasion); By Terry’s Plumping Nude (with more eye makeup); and Laura Mercier’s Sheer Sexy Lips (a bold, not too overpowering red)...I’ll leave it to YOU to decide which one I’ll be wearing tonight!

Hopefully this has left you excited for more, as we continue lip month for the rest of February! Until next week, this is Tara wishing you a warm, loving, and F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S. Valentines Day, no matter how, where, and with whom you’re spending it!
