We can blog about anything
What comes to mind are all of
the things I am grateful for my family & friend & co workers all mean
so much to me. I don't really want to get too mushy, but I need to thank them
all for being in my life.
My journey has been wonderful & exciting at times
trying. I am originally from NYC, I started my business in 2002 about 6 months
after the tragedy of September 11th. Their was little to work in Manhattan
after that you could not go below 14th street. Business - restaurants theater
all suffered all things that make New
York great!
New yorkers as a whole bonded together, helped each other
get thru this.
But I am eternally grateful for the out pouring of other
Americans. They came into our beautiful city volunteering in every capacity.
There were a group of about 50 firemen from LA that came in using there time
& money to assist the men & women that needed our support, in this
daunting task of filling in for the NY bravest.
I don't want to get mushy but
I want to thank all of these people for their selfless sacrifice. I had been
the Director of Well Being with Sephora USA; we needed to arrange to merge our
staff from the World Trade store which was lost that day directly below WTC
bldg1. They had a training that morning at 8:30am and their security guard had
been in the building during the bombing in 93. Even thought the message was not
to panic, his instincts were to evacuate the building. He was right... he
called us and all got out safely. By the time he got uptown with other staff,
he remembered he had not locked the safe, by that time one of the buildings had
imploded. We reassured him not to worry, the safe had been removed a year later
bruised & battered & I think it is the corporate offices in San
Francisco.
There were acts of heroism
& kindnesses.
About 5 days later a group of
45 white/blue haired ladies from ages 65 to 80years flew in from Nebraska to support us. They
went shopping and to the theaters & restaurants. I remember I was in the
rock center store and 1 of them came up to me touched my shoulder and asked me
if I was OK, I'm sure my eyes told the story of the past few days. I could not
respond for fearing that it would burst into tears, I just nodded & said I
was OK, I don't think I ever thanked them for what they did for us. It was the
1st time I had ever seen a black American Express card....people in from
Tennessee, Texas, all over the country were there to help in some way.
There are so many other
stories of random acts of kindness these are just a few.
I did not want to abandon our
city in a time of need she needed all of us especially Mayor Giuliani, he was
amazing he was everywhere, even he came to see us showing support for our fellow New Yorkers, I have a
tremendous respect for his ability to lead us flawlessly during this difficult
time.
And all of this chaos. He was
truly amazing and one of the heroes.
I lost my husband and father
of my kids 6 months later....he was 53 yrs old, he suffered an cerebral aneurysm
and nothing could be done...
The loss & sadness our
children were feeling was overwhelming, but I was determine to move forward I
needed to find a new job or business and I did.
This New York Socialite whom I had know over my many
years in the cosmetic industry was the connector, she new everyone , every
product around the world.. anyhow, she had met a celebrity model/actress that
was starting her own company and needed somone one that knew skincare, voila
me!!! I was fortunate to work with approximately 150 different skin care
companies from around the world. She made arrangements and a short time later
had my 1st order for a skin care product. Recruited my daughter who was also in
the business to help. She agreed and off we began our new journey working with
labs, chemists, formulators etc.
I am so blessed. I have
gained and lost many things in my life but the journey has been fantastic.
I want to send a heartfelt
thank you, Merci Beaucoup, to all of the people who have touched my life, my life’s
vignettes have all been amazing.
Thank you to my children for
bringing me so much joy and love every single day.
Thank you for reading this…
And the journey continues!!!
