From the Secret Stash of Beckie ...

Happy Friday Everyone!  So now that we're past the first major holiday of the year, it's now only a slippery slope into December.  Walmart, like many other retailers already has their Christmas decorations on the floor ready for purchase.

As many of you know, I'm addicted to trying the newest beauty products but I also love the new vibe of small beauty companies.  There are so many companies that have amazing products.  So I thought that I would give all my new finds a shout out this week.

One morning I was listening to the Today Show and the ladies were talking about Willa Skin Care (www.willaskincare.com) and their  tinted moisturizer.  They were raving about it and said that they had it at Target.  So I went and thought, I'm always up for trying a new tinted moisturizer, especially if it protects the skin with an SPF 30 rating!  Sure enough all their ranting and raving was correct.  It is very light weight, no odor (which I love and often with a zinc oxide you'll have a odor)and blends with your skin tone.  I really like to wear this moisturizer when I run, because it doesn't move and sweat off.  Better yet, it doesn't clog your pores either!

Along with their tinted moisturizer, I bought their cleanser.  Major SCORE!  This wonderfully clean scented, foaming cleanser leaves your skin clean and refreshed.  I feel that it is very delicate and doesn't strip away the natural oils of my skin.  You know sometimes when you use a cleanser afterwards your skin is tight and screaming for you to put a moisturizer on it.  Not this one.  I know that I'm slightly above their target demographics (tween-acne prone teen) but I still love this... even for a woman rounding 3rd into 40.

Next on the list, is an 3in 1 eye serum from Chrislie Formulations (www.lashem.com).  It is part of their Lash EM line.  Their claim is that it helps to reduce morning puffiness and brighten the area around the eye.  Well it does.  Lately my nights have been late and mornings come way too fast, so my eyes are a little tired, puffy and and have dark circles under my eyes.  With this product, I feel I can actually make eye contact with the lady at the bagel shop.

My final pick of the week comes from the Balm Cosmetics-(www.thebalm.com).  I love this company.  The names of their products are so funny and unique.  So for whatever reason, I have a hard time keeping eyeliner on my eyes and very few work for me.  So I thought I would try the Balm's Schwing liquid eyeliner.  And oh YEAAHHH.. it's a home run!  I love the felt tip applicator instead of a brush and how easily it is to use.  You can do a thin line and or double up and make a thicker line.  I've even gone as for to wear this to Zumba class and it made it through with our a smudge!

There you have it friends some new finds from my little bag of tricks.
Have a great weekend and until next week... keep sharin' the love!

the sisterhood & a tube

Greetings Grayce here!

I was in Jamaica for a celebration with some of my sistas actually all 8 of us were together.  It was fabulous!
My point in sharing this with you was, that I found we were all, I mean all, able to use this product, I felt as though I was watching “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”
We all used SPF’s with different levels and types from 30 to a 50. Everyone’s skin felt very dry and dehydrated probably a combination of the sun, salt water & chlorine.
I had a sample tube of md formulations moisture defense antioxidant crème. I used it then passed it around for all to try. As I watched this tube passed from a hand to hand I was amazed at the comments. Everyone loved it and wanted to know where to purchase it.
We had all had a similar reaction our skin felt hydrated not tight or dry even as the day progressed. Eight different skin types from oily, oily with a dry surface, normal, normal to oily,  normal to dry, dry mature and sensitive
We covered the gamut. Like the traveling pants it fit all of us….
I would definitely recommend this product as well as being endorsed by my sistas.
Soothing & protective your skin will not feel dry and flaky

Acts as a protective barrier

Today, you need more than intense hydration. You also need to prevent future skin damage. That's why our Moisture Defense Antioxidant Crème contains four powerful antioxidants to defend against environmental stress.
Rebuild the skin's protective barrier with this gentle crème, which is ideal for dry, combination, and sensitive skin.
  • Instantly restores skin's natural moisture, leaving skin smooth and supple
  • Increases moisture retention so that your skin stays hydrated longer
  • Contains natural plant extracts for the most soothing care

 enjoy the journey!

4 Essential Beauty Products for a Night Out

Happy Halloween Fabulous Readers!

I hope you all got some ideas from us in our last week's blogs in preparation for the big costume day! We would LOVE to see any pictures or videos of your creations for Halloween so PLEASE post them on our Facebook page, Tweet them to us or email us cert.fabulous@gmail.com!

This week is Wild Card so we get to talk about anything! I love these weeks :) I have SO many products I love and get to finally tell you about so I decided to make a top 4 list of the best date night / event night beauty products! All brand new discoveries I have found while out shopping and just had to try!

1) Foundation = Classified Cosmetics: Aero Minerale makeup mist - This product is a mineral foundation that dispenses by a spray mechanism. I experienced the TEMPTU airbrush makeup at Cosmoprof  and loved it, but it is on the pricey side...so when I saw this idea in an easy (and inexpensive) spray can I just had to put it to the test! The short answer, I love it! Now to break it down for you so you use it properly and not get a bad first impression you must first understand that being able to spray makeup perfectly on your face is impossible. Unless you are using equipment like TEMPTU that is designed to spray the perfect amount of makeup...thus the higher cost. The Aero Minerale makeup covers flawlessly with the right application. First have a makeup sponge readily available. The product comes with directions, but what I did was hold out the can about 8" away and sprayed fast across one section of my face. I dived it into four spray sections; Forehead (wear a headband to not get hairline), left cheek, right cheek, chin. Once you spray one section take the sponge and pat makeup in place. One all of the sections were applied and perfected to my liking I applied a setting powder, I use NYC loose translucent powder. DONE! My skin seriously looks flawless and I am happy :) I will use this foundation for nights out, events and in any film projects I do. Love!

*Fun Fact: On the movie set of Breaking Dawn makeup artists used 1,000 of these cans!

2) Eyes = Eyeko London: Skinny Liquid Eyeliner - This is a VERY easy liquid eyeliner pen to use. The tip is not flimsy so the application run smoothly and right where you want it. It is not a brush applicator so you don't have to worry about lose or stray bristles coming off or bending and getting eyeliner all over. Doesn't smudge or rub off and last all day!!! I am a HUGE cosmetic girl and let me tell you not only do I try brand new things as they hit the market, but I have tried dozens of different brands and products in the category and I deem this my favorite liquid eyeliner! It also comes in 5 colors (Olive Green, Brown Purple, Navy Blue & Black) so you can accentuate and bring out any eye color.
I have been really into the Old Hollywood Glamour looks so I just apply white eye shadow all over my lid and to my inner corners, line my top lid with a thick layer of liquid liner,  and contour the lid crease with a darker shadow. Add a bold, thickening mascara and your done!

3) Lips (and/or Blush) = benefit: Posietint - For that classic, sweet girl pout this is the ULTIMATE secret weapon! You can make this poppy-pink liquid gel tint as light or as dark as you want by layering so it can achieve many different looks for any occasion or depending on how dark or light you make your eye makeup. Once applied it will last for hours! Stays in place after eating, drinking and kissing :) It looks natural and not fake, dry or cakey like some color stay lipsticks can be...most guys are afraid to kiss colored lips, especially if it looks like an unnatural color that might transfer onto them. This product says you can also use it as a cheek stain but I prefer the old fashioned powder blush. You can even apply a clear gloss or chapstick for plumper lips...the color will stay in perfect place. I can't live without this! Even the way you apply it is unique, it looks like a nail polish, you brush on the liquid gel stain with a "nail polish" brush and it works accurate and perfectly. If you want to apply more layers to darken the pink color make sure to let the layers dry before you apply more. It comes in different tones, like Benetint, which is a redder color.

4) Hair = Rusk: w8less hairspray -  It's very important to find the right hold for any type of style you decide to do. Curly, wavy, straight or up it is important to always spray your hair in place to stand up against wind, humidity, rain...anything! I use hairspray everyday just to tame my flyaways and give me hair a more finished look... especially since I wake up most days with zero time for hair, so when I have to work with my natural frizzed waves I have to at least make time to tone them down! Rusk is a new brand to me for the hair world and I am glad I took the chance! I didn't get the strongest hold spray, but the second the last and it means what it says when they call it a "strong hold". I can depend on this to work all day and never have to reapply or fix throughout the day. Made to shape and control this does the trick for me and it is perfect for a night out so you can worry more about having fun and not what your hair is doing :)

What are some of your date night looks??

Until next time...
Keep on Being Beautiful You!

**************************************************
Let’s be honest, we all started off new in the beauty business at some point. Some earlier and others later. I was part of the later group. :) I have always used lip balms and lotions and cremes but I when it comes to eyeliner, concealer, primer or foundation, I wasn't too sure what to do with it. When I started to work with certified F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S. I opened myself up to a whole new world. I was told it could become overwhelming but I wanted to take on that challenge. I received the suggestion to start my journey at Ulta

Now here I am walking into this gigantic store with all these beautiful ladies that seemed to have the perfect make up that I probably would never be able to apply to my face. That’s what I thought.

I explained my situation and the Ulta makeup artist introduced me to, Benefit, one of her favorite brands. She suggested sticking with one brand to show maximum results. I explained that, being a new mom, sleepless nights happen a lot and therefore I might look very tired occasionally. She started me off with the Stay Don’t Stray primer to cover up dark circles.

I used to apply powder next but having dry skin the Ulta makeup artist advised not to use powder anymore as it will dry out skin even more.

She then chose a kit, that is named Big Beautiful Eyes”, and I have to say I love it. The beautiful pink box includes boi-ing as a primer, a pink base shadow, cocoa shimmer contour shadow, a rich chocolate brown liner shadow and 2 brushes for easy application. On top of that, it has a mirror built in for those times when I need to apply my makeup on the go because I didn't have time to do it at home. For beginners, a step by step description on how to apply the product is included as well. Awesome choice!

My makeup session was then finished with a great combination of eyeliner and mascara and the beautiful "Hoola" blush which matches the eye shadow amazingly!

I have to say thank you to the Ulta team! It was a great experience to come into a store with little knowledge and be treated like a queen who gets great insider makeup tips from a professional. I am sure my next makeup shopping trip will be to Ulta again!

Going Nude...

Hello readers, Linnea here! So the month of October has flown by!

I have one more product to talk to you about this month and I was very excited to try out my selection this week –MAC Cremesheen Crème D’Nude. It’s the second lipstick I have blogged about but I must say the two are very different in terms of color and style! I've been searching for a nude lipstick, but I've had trouble finding the right nude to match my skin tone… until this one J I like the look of nude lipstick because I feel as though I can dress up the eyes and compliment them with an understated lip for everyday wear.

I haven’t used MAC lipsticks or nude lipsticks, so I had to try this one a couple of ways before I was satisfied with the look. When I first tried it on, I put on a rather thick layer. Although I liked the color, it didn't blend well into my lips. I found that it looks nicer to smooth the lipstick with your finger for a more casual and natural lip. Even just a light layer of the lipstick looks elegant and more natural than a thicker layer. It also helps to exfoliate your lips before applying the lipstick to prevent highlighting dead skin.
To exfoliate my lips, I combine sugar and olive oil for an instant lip scrub! I find that exfoliating the lips helps with any lipstick that I wear. The Crème D’Nude has a nice sheen quality and moisturizes pretty well compared to other lipsticks I have used, especially after exfoliating.
The Crème D’Nude is not a statement lipstick in my opinion (especially compared to the Bright Orange lipstick I blogged about last week), but I have been carrying it in my bag quite often to use as a casual shade! It goes with almost anything I want to wear and helps create an understated yet chic look.

What do you think about nude lipsticks? Let me know of any favorite nude shades or tips for a great nude lip!

Eyes That Sparkle Like a Disco Ball

When the street lights come on and the witches are witching and the ghosts begin to howl... that's when you know it's Halloween time!  So what are you going to transform into?  Even if it's just for one night, who would you be?  For me Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because it gives me an excuse to dress up and be someone else if only for a couple hours.
This year I'm transforming myself into a disco diva.  That's right party people, the 70's are back and they are fly.  I love the 70's disco free spirit energy.  The make-up was awesome and the hair... oh the hair!  Big fros or the Farrah Fawcett feather, right?  I love the bright colors and the flamboyancy of the clothing and make-up from the 70's.
That being said, I found Medusa's Makeup http://www.medusasmakeup.com/ and let me tell you they L-O-V-E color and glam too.  They have everything from eye dust and  glitter to add a little sparkle to your far-out eyes to colored mascara, What?  Yeah I know, color mascara!  You can have everything your foxy little mind ever wanted all on one website.  So much hip stuff and only one face to try it on!  So I tried their eye glitter in, what else... Xanadu!  It's this beautiful iridescent aqua blue.  You can mix it with gold eyeliner or green shadow and your eyes will look AWEmazing!  Now because it is a loose glitter you'll have to use an adhesive. So I just squeeze a little bit of Too Faced Glitter Glue on the top of my hand (like in the meaty part between pointer finger and thumb) and dab my angled brush in it. This way you can control where your glitter goes and it'll stay on all night.  Plus you can just keep adding more and more glitter!  And who doens't like glitter? Ok... well my sweetheart could probably do without it on his face on Monday morning...oops sorry sweetie... a little collateral make-up damage- LOL!

Here's some fun facts about Halloween you can impress your friends with.  My favorite is #4... I guess you can thank the next person that calls you a Witch!

  1. Because the movie Halloween (1978) was on such a tight budget, they had to use the cheapest mask they could find for the character Michael Meyers, which turned out to be a William Shatner Star Trek mask. Shatner initially didn’t know the mask was in his likeness, but when he found out years later, he said he was honored.h
  2. The first Jack O’Lanterns were actually made from turnips.e
  3. Halloween is the second highest grossing commercial holiday after Christmas.f
  4. The word “witch” comes from the Old English wicce, meaning “wise woman.” In fact, wiccan were highly respected people at one time. According to popular belief, witches held one of their two main meetings, or sabbats, on Halloween night.g
  5. Samhainophobia is the fear of Halloween.a

Happy Haunting and have a hug-o-rific Halloween!

All Dressed Up

Hello everyone!
Linnea here, checking in from the Windy City. I hope you all are getting excited for Halloween! I’m not a big fan of the horror/scary side of Halloween but I have always enjoyed the decorations, pumpkins, costumes, and of course the candy! I haven’t really celebrated Halloween for a couple years, but this year I am feeling the Halloween spirit. Although I’m undecided about my outfit, I know one thing that I will be incorporating –orange lipstick!
Now I know that might sound a bit weird but it’s Halloween so why not have some fun right? I found a great color that you can wear to vamp up your Halloween outfit, but it’s also great to wear this fall. It’s called Golden Rose Bright Orange. The orange is deep, rich, and vibrant, which works well with my fair skin. From a distance it looks almost red, but closer up the bright orange dominates. I wasn't sure if I would like this color, but it’s awesome! It has added a statement to quite a few of my outfits so far and proven to be a great fall shade.

Now, about the quality— I've never tried this brand of lipstick before but I was quite impressed. The lipstick is smooth (a luxurious creamy quality) and keeps my lips feeling moisturized the whole time while wearing it. It also makes my lips look fuller and minimizes the appearance of the lines that sometimes are more defined when I wear other lipsticks. This lipstick is also shiny—I usually tend to favor matte lipsticks, but the shine seems to suit this color quite well and added to the richness quality. So although I have already worn this bright orange before Halloween, I will still try to add it to my outfit as the perfect Halloween lipstick shade!

I hope you too are getting into the Halloween spirit, and let me know if you have any other daring lipstick shades! Happy Haunting!

New Halloween Kits You Should Know About!

Jessica
HALLOWEEN WEEK!

Hello Fabulous Readers! This week we are excited to be reviewing for you Halloween tips, tricks and new products to enhance your costume of choice this year :)

Taking of of my fave looks and finding better solutions. First up, fake tattoos. One year I was Kat Von D for Halloween and since she has SO many tattoos I ended up wearing the classic tattoo long sleeve shirt. This was limiting though because you were stuck with the design of the whole shirt and their pick of tattoos. I also used a few temporary tattoos in some places, which was nice because I had more of a choice and could position them anywhere...but if I did my whole body with that it would take SO much time and get to be costly. This year if you are looking to get tatted up for a costume I have a few very cool products you should try!

Tulip: Body Art Spray Tattoo Ink & Stencil. It's a temporary tattoo that last for 7 days and is very easy to do! It comes with everything you need; the spray (black or dark blue kit options) and the stencils that conveniently comes with plastic wrap already around the stencil so you don't get spray spatter anywhere but on the design. I actually bought a bunch of various stencils and was able to use those too! Just be careful when do that because it could get spray around the stencil, you can always use rubbing alcohol to clean up round it, that is also how you wash it off when you don't want it anymore.

Another genius tattoo kit is the Earth: Black Jagua Fruit Tattoo Gel. Not only is this perfect for Halloween but if you are considering or have ever considered getting a tattoo but wasn't sure where or what this is a good tester for you! Once on the ink last up to 14 days! It works almost like henna ink but this Jagua ink is black and looks more realistic.
The kit comes with a book of designs that you can copy to transfer paper and then apply to the skin in order to trace the design with the ink. Or you could have an artist friend draw right on you! When applying a design to you, keep in mind it really does last 14 days so make sure it is in a place you can hide if your work doesn't allow body art. Also, I recommend wearing gloves when applying because it WILL stain...and it will not be scrubbed off easily.
This process takes a little more work, but the results are amazing and long lasting! So if you have the time...it takes time to transfer to skin, trace and then it needs to dry with no water contact for 12-24 hours. It will naturally start to flake off and reveal the inked tattoo look...which will darken and fully develop in 24 hours. You need to start 2 days before you intend to show it off for Halloween or anything else.

EARTH JAGUA FACT SHEET: (http://www.earthhenna.com
  • Earth Jagua is 100% safe for everyone.
  • Earth Jagua does not contain PPD or any other toxic chemicals.
  • Earth Jagua is not henna, nor does it contain henna.
  • Earth Jagua dyes the skin blue-black, just like the color of a permanent tattoo.
  • Earth Jagua lasts 10-14 days on the skin, then disappears completely.
  • Skin type, and where it is applied on the body, may produce slight variations in color.
  • Earth Jagua requires no mixing.
  • With Earth Jagua, it takes 12-24 hours for the color to appear and fully develop, just    like natural henna!
  • Using Earth Jagua is totally pain-free.
  • Earth Jagua is a dye and will stain if it comes in contact with clothing or furniture, but not after the body ink dries on the skin.
  • Swimming in chlorinated pools will make Earth Jagua tattoos fade more quickly.
  • Earth Jagua can be re-applied as tattoo starts to fade, or as often as desired.
  • Earth Jagua shows up perfectly on dark skin.

What are you going to be for Halloween??

Until next time...
Keep of Being Beautiful You!
