Cellulite Creams: Do they work? You Tell me...

There are a "million" of these types of creams on the market.... and I know from the ingredient side of the products that they can work. They can decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, they can help to tone the skin.... but firm you butt??? Not so sure about that...

I am sorry to say the only thing that is going to tone me at this point is some exercise... running a few days a week is key... (or whatever form of cardio you choose).

I am going to tell you some secrets of how they make you "feel" it is working... and achieve the visual effects...
Almost everyone of these products contains Caffeine. Caffeine can definitely work I have seen the effects of caffeine stimulating the circulation and decreasing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, by plumping the skin... Not to be too graphic but isn't that what you want... plump out those dimples please!!!!! But it depends on how much is in there.... Turn that label around. Make sure it is towards the middle to the top of the ingredient deck... if it is the last ingredient listed it is probably not in there enough to make a visual difference.

Collagen and/ or Sodium Hyaluronate are the other tricks- it is all about plumping that skin to give it a smoother appearance!!!Also these products contain Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, or Cyclomethicone, these are all Latin terms for silicone. I know that some people are not fans of Silicone, BUT I AM! Why not, what is wrong with silicone??? It will diminish the appearance of the dimples we are referring to,it will fill in the space between the dimples, it is a skin softener and healer. It is a great ingredient.

Light reflection- There are multiple ingredients that can actually play tricks on the eyes... they reflect the light so that you (or someone that is looking at you) does not see the lines/ bumps/ whatnot... Because the way these ingredients work are that they bounce the light off of your skin in such a way the the skin apprears smoother. Some ingredients that do this, or to look for are yeast extracts, seaweeds and some shimmers.

Capsicum extract, "which increases blood circulation and promotes skin health"...or so the claim is made... Capsicum is pepper extract... it is going to give you a bite... as well as menthol and cinnamon really give you a feeling these products are working...
I am sorry to say that the cellulite underneath is yours to keep unless you make a lifestyle change (no judgements, just facts)
BUT - there are many creams out there that can help the appearance of the skin in all areas of your body. This skin is what you see and this is what the world sees.... so why shouldn't it look its best!

If you would like more ingredient information on these types of products let me know...

  1. Wow, merci Sara. I absolutely love the technical data behind your posts. You really know what you are talking about and it is nice to read a woman who understand the chemical information as clearly as you do.

    Je vous remercie!
