Lean, Mean, and Made In Vermont

Hi there. Summer intern Tara here.

I’m actually going to begin this introduction with a couple of apologies... First of all, the above title is sadly not about me (it describes Flourish's Lavender Mint Sugar Body Polish)! Secondly, I don’t have much beauty experience to tout (as of yet!)...but I'm fairly confident that at least a few of you will be intrigued by my most definitive feature: an unhealthy obsession with healthy skincare.

I’ve always been into using skincare products that contain natural or “natural-leaning”, safe ingredients, which are still effective. This summer, the lovely ladies here at First Impact are teaching me all about the actual technology behind the most effective, healthy ingredients and skincare; and for this, I’m eternally grateful. I’m also quite grateful to still have skin that is young enough (mid-20’s) and flexible enough (normal/medium-toned) to experiment with just about any product I find intriguing. When it comes down to my regular skincare regime—I don’t use many products, but when I do use them, I’m thorough…I mean, seriously thorough. Conveniently, my thorough attention with products is perfectly illustrated through my use of body scrubs and polishes—this week’s topic! Today, I’d like to share a new favorite with you: Flourish Natural Body Care’s Lavender Mint Sugar Body Polish.

As with most products, I don’t use scrubs and polishes often; but when I do use them, I go all out. For me, the product itself is a small ingredient in the following process: 1) turn on the hot shower; 2) dry brush skin in the bathroom (which is steaming up from shower); 3) hit the shower with gentle body cleanser, using a pouf, brush, or washcloth; 4) scrub-a-dub-dub with that scrub (from head to toe, in circular motions); and 5) apply a seriously healthy moisturizer to a very exposed, fresh layer of skin immediately upon exiting the shower!

My response to this particular product—Flourish's Lavender Mint Sugar Body Polish—was pleasant surprise. To start, I’m not usually a huge fan of sugar scrubs, due to the sticky sweet “dessert” scent many have, but I absolutely adore the the mint-y, herbal, and "clean" scent of this product. Also, when you open the product, it looks very dry, but as soon as you apply it to your skin, it becomes silky—probably due to it's moisturizing organic coconut and sunflower oils. In fact, when I used this product, I didn’t even feel as if I needed to moisturize afterwards (but obviously still did)! Finally, I loved the lean, clean, and easy-to-navigate packaging design. It evokes clean, and is just easy to use.

While some might prefer their scrubs to be a little rougher and grainier, leaving their skin drier and more exfoliated, this product was perfect for someone like me, who already exfoliates a bit every day with a shower pouf or washcloth. In fact, for me, the product fit every single F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S. category. I’m interested to hear what my coworkers think about Flourish’s Lavender Mint Polish, but in the meantime, I will continue using it (yes, I’m addicted…) and recommending it to others.
