Self tanniing - You do not have to turn into an Orange

Hello everyone!!!

Self Tanners is the name of the game this week...

So when I was a teenager my mother gave me St. tropez self tanner... told me it was "the Product"... I should be using this because I was the "extremely fair" as she would try to put it nicely.... My mother has beautiful olive skin tone and I on the other hand am as white as paper...

Okay, So Who said a blog isn't cathartic, Lol.

The St.tropez at the time was a kit of some sort and a bit overwhelming to me... I tried a number of different brands over the years. A lot of the products turned me very unattractive colors, streaky, and sticky, etc.

Well today, thank goodness there are so many options out there, it really is up to you to try different ones and out to figure out what is best for you.
I have Fair skin with a pink tone to it.... and Believe it or not the Tanner I use nowadays is St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse. It is AWESOME!!!! Firstly, it is instant!, it is easy!!! and I look TAN!!!! No streaks, No fuss!!! You can not tell I am wearing a tanner, it looks completely natural!

It has become a joke in our office... every time I go into Sephora, I basically put on a demonstration, someone will see me and buy it... they must think I work for the Brand, lol. (I don't.) I just love the product.

So how do they work... is I am sure the reason you are reading my blog...
Dihydroxyacetone, also known as DHA. This skin browning effect is non-toxic, according to the available data. In basic language DHA reacts chemically with the amino acids in the skin's surface. As people we all have different skin, so we react differently to DHA, producing different tones of coloration from yellow to brown "tans". This part can take up to a few hours to start seeing the change in the skin.

The instant part... Some of these products have iron oxides, you will see them listed as CI 15985 (for example), in them which act as bronzers, which are basically make up that sit on top of the skin... and are washed off in the shower. this is the part that gives the immediate change in color to the skin.

Combine these ingredients and this is why different colors are achieved... Just like in a foundation or any tinted moisturizer that can look fabulous on one person, and look like "ooooh what happened to you" on someone else....

Patch test, in discrete places (not your face) (at home please) to find your proper match... Once you know the color is working for you is when I would then apply it to my face... These self tanners effects can last 3-4 days.

Of course there are many other ingredients that are involved in these products.... All the other ingredients are a part of the base. To make it feel like a cream, mousse, serum, or otherwise... Find your preference :)

If you have questions please feel free to comment on my blog and I will be happy to try to help explain these products/ ingredients further.
