S.W.A.K. (sent with a kiss)

Hello Friends this is your Friday girl, Beckie.
So let me ask you a question? What is the first thing that you notice about a person when you're talking to them? Is it their eyes? Is it their skin? Or is it their lips? For me, I tend to notice people's lips. If you look closely, lips are very unique. Some plump and pouty. Some are flat. Some even have creases and cracks. Obviously women pay far more attention to their lips than men do. We as women, moisturize and add color to our lips to make us look alert or more attractive to potential kissers.

Growing up I never really paid too much attention to lip products until it was Santa Ana wind weather (which usually happened in the Fall) and they cracked and pealed. I didn't do any preventive maintenance to avoid chapped lips. Now though, I put lip gloss on before I go to bed almost every night.

There are thousands of lip products out on the market; lip gloss with a wand or with a brush, lip balm in a pot or in a Chapstick tube or just in a tube that you have to squeeze out... and that's just the packaging. What about the product inside? There's some with SPF and some with color added to them and then there's some with both.

Personally I love the Aveda Lip Saver. It has a SPF 15 coverage and stays on, even in the water. Even better is that I can apply it over a lip tint and it doesn't run like a lip gloss sometimes does. With the traditional Aveda signature scent, it also offers a little bit of an aromatherapy experience.

My other go to for a "just for fun" gloss is from Victoria's Secret. Their "Juiced Berry" lip gloss is pretty tasty and adds a bit of color to your lips too. There really is nothing worse than wearing a lip gloss that leaves a bad after taste or that is too thin and wears off too quickly. Victoria's Secret lip gloss has a nice consistency and stays on. Another advantage of their lip gloss is, it is relatively inexpensive, so you can buy different flavors and switch it up a bit depending on your mood.

Keep this in mind when you're picking out your lip products, 15 minutes of kissing burns 30 calories... so choose wisely.

Be good to each other!
