Good Wednesday to you Beautiful Readers,
It’s Jessica again and this week we are talking about hair removal products! Scary…I know.
I am not going to get too personal and give away my full beauty regimen in this area…I mean come on, give me a break, a woman has to keep SOME secrets!I have always wanted to try waxing, even though I recall as a kid my mother in the bathroom with wax strips on her legs screaming when she was tearing them off…it was still something that I was intrigued to try. I mean I have tattoos, so how much pain could there possibly be compared to that?! When this week’s topic came up, I mentioned to Sara that I wanted to try waxing…she then laughed and looked at my legs which were with only one day of stubble. “You need to have longer hair to wax!” she told me, to my disbelief. There is no way I am letting my hair grow out any longer than it is now…in the summer! So I laid that idea to rest, but it is still in the back of my head to try out in the winter :)
I will say that 90% of my hair removal is done by good old fashioned razor shaving. This will shock you too…I don’t use shaving cream. I don’t even have any in my house actually, I kind of never really saw the point in it since razors now have all of the gel strips and soothing “bar of soap” type of conditioners that surround the razor blade.
My favorite razor with this technology is the Schick Intuition® Renewing Moisture™ !!! The blade is surrounded by what looks to be a bar of soap but they call it a moisture rich conditioning solid that lathers when wet. Which is perfect for me because as I have said in earlier blogs, I am not the type to linger in the shower, I get in and get out. This razor allows me to quickly shave and not have to bother with shaving cream and wasting time on that whole process. The only down side to this product is the price of the refills. At the frequency that I shave, which is every other day…faithfully, even in the winter, I go through the conditioning solid part fast and have to change the head of the razor more often. The plus side to that con is that it makes you change out the razor blades often giving you a fresh one and not having to worry that it will rust out or dull and cause razor burn. Again, something important for a lazy, in and out type of shower person…such as myself.
For the days that I have an important event or I am in the mood to take longer in my hair removal process (for the right reasons), my go-to product is a cream. Avon: SKIN SO SOFT Fresh & Smooth Hair Removal Cream is an amazing cream! You put it on thick; let it sit for between 3 to 10 minutes (different for everyone), then wipe away with a wet wash cloth. If you are unsure of the time to leave it on, do a test at the 3 minute mark and see if the hair easily comes off, if not then leave on longer. Of course if it feels horribly irritating to you, use common sense and wash it off! Once it comes off, my skin is SO smooth and there are no spots that I missed, like I would with a razor. Again, with this type of product you have to let the hair grow out a little longer than a stubble length, but the end results are pain free and last a long time, it is almost worth the wait! Creams, like this one, can be used on any part of the body and face but I would probably not venture to use it around my bikini area!
*My eyebrow hair removal trick: I use the cute little eyebrow shapers by Noxema. When I can't find the eyebrow shapers, I buy the bikini razors, prefect to shape eyebrows and painlessly get ride of in between the eyes "uni-brow" hairs. The most common I have seen around (and always buy) is Noxema bikini shaver.
That is all for me this week, I don’t know if I will ever be brave enough for electrolysis or any type on doctor hair removal treatments. I will play it safe and stick to my razor and cream! Come winter I will try out waxing, but that is as adventurous as I will get when it comes to hair removal! I hope this helped…
Keep on being beautiful you!
