Everything with a grain of Salt!!!!

Sara
Firstly I would like to Wish Grayce a Very Happy Birthday!!!

This week is open for us to talk about anything we would like to... I would like to talk about the natural and organic debate and concerns...

I know everywhere you go you get conflicting information.... This is safe, no this is not safe.... Natural is good... no Natural is not good.... Who knows what to believe and what to think???? It is very similar to the food market, I forget are eggs and milk good or bad for you this week???

The facts are that people do not really know.  There is no ruling body to make any official determinations, which is not a private institution.   Private institution usually have some of their own agenda, I.e. who is paying to say they are certified organic or certified natural vs, the ones that are not....

Even the rules though most of these institution are not absolute because the availability of the raw materials out there cannot completely support what they would like their parameters to be, and by whatever they want their parameters to be. (Please remember no one is necessarily monitoring them either...)  But in the end there HAS to be some leeway, whether you like it or not...

I know there are a number of blogs out there which use scare tactics and say all cosmetic companies are these huge companies who do not care about their consumers... who say cosmetic brands are in it for the money and they do not care what goes on your skin and the health ramifications...

I am sure there are some companies out there which are mass producing items and the cost plays a role... But there are MANY, MANY, MANY, cosmetic companies that do care! Whom are working very hard to deliver the safest and most effective products to their consumers!   Now, I chose the word "safe"  and not the word natural or organic....  They are not the same thing. Just because it is man made does not always mean it is not safe...It does not always mean it is safe either....  Natural ingredients are great, but not always as effective, and sometimes can be more irritating...

So once again what do you choose?????  How do you know?  Well, read the label.  Look at the ingredient deck.  research the brand you are looking to purchase products from. A lot of brands will tell you what they are all about right on their website.

Take it all with a grain of Salt!  Don't worry as much about what they say is not good for you... What are they saying they can offer you???

Also, there are a lot of references to petroleum based ingredients and how BAD they are or there is an issue when petroleum is involved in the harvesting process.  So  please let me explain  this does not mean that ingredients were bathed in petroleum before it was put into your skin care.   It means petroleum, which is a non renewable resource (the same petroleum that is used to fuel your car and most likely heat your home), was needed in the process to harvest the ingredient, and actually sometimes the ingredients are derived from it... Once again please do your research, to not just read the Scare information that is available to make other things seem better...   I will write a blog on just the ingredients very soon, "the good the bad and the ugly".

Cosmetics are a very competitive market.  There are a lot of products and information and misinformation out there...

Please do your homework, use your judgement...  Just as inappropriate as companies are to make claims that are not real about their products, I feel it is just as inappropriate for people to scare and confuse consumers about ingredients.

I hope this encourages and empowers you to really think about what you are reading out there.

Have a great week.
Happy Monday
Sara
