Bikini Bumps... ouch!

Sara
Happy Monday,

Razor Bumps are not only unsightly but can also be quite uncomfortable.  There are a lot of products out there, I would like to try to help you find one that is right for you.

Medicated vs. Non-medicated- This terminology is important to understand because what it is telling you is whether or not there is an ingredient in the formula that the FDA recognizes as Active at its active level. If you see a product claims to be medicated then you will be able to see the details of the active ingredient on the Drug facts label.

There are many effective formulas which are medicated or non-medicated.

Hypo-Allergenic, Dermatologist Tested-  This is determined by a test preformed by an independent laboratory. This test is called  Repeat Insult Patch Test, where quite simply the lab applies the product to clean skin and watch to see for irritation. If you are sensitive skin prone, this would be a claim I would look for.

Razors- The more blades you have in the razor, not only do you get a closer shave but you are also removing more layers of skin... be mindful when you are looking for a razor and try a razor with fewer blades as this may help. Also make sure you are replacing your razor on a regular basis.

Shaving Product- Take a look at what you are using as a shaving product. Make sure that it is not overally drying or stripping to your skin.

Lastly but definitely Not least

A Few Ingredients to look For-
  • Allantoin
  • Tea Tree Oil
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Benzoyl Peroxide
  • White Willow Bark
  • Chamomile
  • Carbomer
  • Aloe
  • glycerin

Let me know if you have a favorite product, or what your tricks are to keeping Razor burn at bay,

Sara
