Good Day Fab Readers!
We hope you are having a Certified Fabulous weekend!
We are lucky enough to have our lovely guest blogger, Dr. Susuan Baskin talk to us about Fat Reduction technology and how to find the best option! We were very excited to get this advice, especially with bathing suit season just around the corner!
If you haven't had the pleasure of reading Dr. Baskin's blogs in the past, here is a little about her...

Good morning readers,
I thought I would talk briefly about fat reduction as that
has gained popularity recently and with that many questions. With the approval
of several completely non-invasive devices to reduce unwanted bulges we now
have options that are safer and have little to no downtime. But do they
actually work in reducing adipose (fat) tissue? The answer is most definitely
yes.
In my office we have a Coolsculpting device that freezes the fat while leaving the rest of the skin
and surrounding structures unharmed. It takes about an hour or two to do, is
virtually painless, and reduces the fat in the area treated by 25%. The
procedure can be repeated for more dramatic results if necessary.
Another
non-invasive device that is getting some deserved attention is Liposonix. This
technology uses focused ultrasound targeted at the fat cells to disrupt them.
Similar to Coolsculpting, Liposonix kills the fat cells. Results are seen about
three months after the procedure when the body has had time to clear the fat
cells. It remains to be seen if one device is more effective than the other.
Results appear to be similar on initial evaluations.
A third device called a Zerona is also FDA approved for fat reduction. This laser uses low levels of energy the create little holes on the fat cell so the fat leaks out. Fat reduction can be seen more quickly but keep in mind that it does not kill the fat cell and it will re-accumulate fat so the results are considered temporary.

All these devices are geared toward the
individual that is at or close to their goal weight and has pockets of fat that
won't go away despite continued diet and exercise. They are not meant for and
are ineffective as a weight loss tool. The cost for these procedures varies
from region to region but generally falls in the $1500-$3000 range. For more
information you can check the websites for the devices or realself.com for
patient reviews.
Thanks for reading!
