Hello Fabulous Readers,
We made it to Wednesday! It’s Jessica again, and as you probably figured out I missed my blog last week! I was away on a work trip and the week was crazy and the time flew by…so I apologize.
Lip products are one of my favorite things to try out and I have about 50 glosses, chap sticks and balms stashed all over my apartment, office, car and purses! So since I feel so terrible about missing out on the chance to review some of the best lip products on the market, I am giving you all a double dose of reviews in this week’s blog!!! You’re excited, I know. Lip SPF and make-up SPF are today’s topics :)
Lips are SO important to protect, they are part of first impressions when you meet someone and weather you are talking…or smooching…lips can say a lot about you. My current favorite and which will always remain my #1 simply because nothing else can top it…Carmex brand lip products. ANY Carmex sticks, balm, tube, jar treatment, I own them. I use the ORIGINAL CARMEX TUBE or CARMEX CHERRY TUBE every night before bed and any lip flaws vanish by the morning! In the day I am always applying the CARMEX ORIGINAL STICK or CARMEX CHERRY STICK because they both have SPF 15 and they make my lips look smooth and luscious. No cakey, dry, sticky feeling…just pure kissable lips! Absolutely no medicine smell either, it truly is a chap stick that makes me feel sexy…how many chap sticks can you say that about?! I even wear it out to the club or on a date, with all of the amazing scents they have now there is no reason not to wear it all the time! With choices like Vanilla, Lime, Strawberry and Cherry, your lips will be looking and smelling so irresistible.
Honorable mentions in the SPF lip category include Murad Energizing Pomegranate Lip Therapy SPF 15, which claims to revitalize and protect dry, dehydrated lips by improving texture to restore suppleness. It is infused with antioxidants to fight free radicals and let me tell you, the scent with this repairing gloss is so heavenly you don’t even think you are wearing something that is made to treat and repair your lips!
Also a top buy for me was the Jack Black brand Lip Balm with SPF 25. They have outstanding lip products that made me gaga for the scents as well, how can you pass up Black Tea + Blackberry or Grapefruit + Ginger…don’t even get me started on my ginger craze! The Jack Black brand itself is focused on men’s products, the website even states it was “created to appeal to the Guy's Guy”. For me, I don’t care if it’s a men’s or women’s product, as long as it works and I like it, I will use it…example: I currently use Suave Men’s Styling Gel because it works and the scent it dreamy :)
Now on to this week’s topic, SPF makeup, where I choose to review Philosophy’s The Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas with SPF 15. This make is a mineral foundation, powder, concealer and SPF all in one. Sounds pretty cool huh? The name alone makes me feel like this product will work! They claim to protect as it conceals imperfections, pores, shine, redness, spots and uneven skin tone for amazing, airbrushed skin. Wow…doesn’t that sound just…perfect! The packaging is pretty cool, it has a little mirror on top of the cap and the actual applicator is a powder puff attached to the powder compartment so you can just rub/dab the puff on your face and the color/powder instantly is applied to your face. When I used it like this I found it came out cakey and fake looking though, I use foundation as a base and I don’t layer it or make it thick, I smooth it on because normally the powders I buy are mineral powder foundations that basically complete and perfect the look I want…which is flawless (or as close to it as I can be). The great thing about this product is that if you do not like the puff applicator you have the option to unscrew that part off and get to the loose powder…hmm a company that doesn’t try to screw me over with a one option use of their products?? LOVE IT! The way I ended up using this powder is by mixing it with my everyday powder, NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder which is translucent. By mixing it with my translucent powder it tones down the power of the powder, which I did use alone when I needed the extra coverage. It truly is a product that covers well and I do enjoy using it, having the SPF in it helps me to skip that extra step of applying a lotion before my makeup, which sucks for someone like me with combination/oily skin.
In the end, I tried out some great new products that I would buy again and can recommend to you all (depending on your makeup needs). Also, I was happy I got to gush to you all about my tried and true Carmex lip treatments (Which I am nominating for our Certified F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S Seal of approval). Confident beauty is a wonderful thing and with the help of this week’s products I can feel pretty being me, focused on radiating my inner beauty while the products do all of the work to strengthen and protect my outward appearance.
