Hello everyone this is Sara with my two cents on SPF make up. I have never really understood the need for SPF in make up. I mean, your SPF factor only protects you for a certain amount of time, so I have always felt it gives women a false sense of security. To a certain degree it does, BUT, I have also discovered, with some people this is the only SPF they wear and at least they wear it on a daily basis!!!! Also, the physical make up (like mineral make up) offers a certain amount of physical barrier that will not wear off during the day.
Bottom line: please wear SPF make up, as the benefits are definitely there. I am really curious to see how the new SPF laws are going to effect most of these make ups. A lot of them are SPF 15, so they will remain available on the market, but I am curious to see how many start carrying the broad spectrum claim, which I've discussed in previous posts..
On the make up note, I have very hormonal skin to say the least. In the winter it is dry, in the summer (since I turned 30 and had 2 kids) it is oily (I have breakouts on my chin, and in my hairline). Man, is it frustrating! Foundation has never been my friend. I do not like the feel of it on my skin. It feels heavy all day, and I do not think it looks natural. I have a lot of freckles, so I think they look strangely muted when I wear foundation.
Anyway, back to the positive. Jessica, a fellow Certified Fabulous blogger, took me to Ulta and had me buy and try their Bare Minerals Original SPF 15 Foundation. They have a bunch of shades so it is not too hard to find a color that will be a good match. This product is a powder, so be sure to pick up a good powder brush, for application.
This product definitely changed my mind about foundation. I can wear it, it is light, I barely even know it is there, it evens out my skin tone, but you can still see my skin!!! I definitely prefer a natural look, so I will have to apply a small amount.
I never would think a powder foundation would be for me. I always was afraid it would be too drying, but it is not. I actually really really like it.
If you like me do not really like foundation, but are getting a little older and even for events think it is time :) I would definitely recommend it, next time you see it, try it.
Happy Thursday!!!
Sara
