DIY Pore Minimizers: Remove the High Cost from Blackhead Removal!

Hi Friends. It’s Tara here, writing today about pore minimizers. To start, I’d like to encourage you to check out Sara’s post from yesterday (if you haven’t already). Her ingredient intel always shines through on Mondays, but did so especially yesterday as she explained the breakdown of an awesome pore minimizer. So interesting, and definitely worth a read--these are the types of ingredients we apply to our skin daily, after all!

But onto an entirely different type of pore minimizer—the STRIP! I’ve been a huge fan of pore strips forever. Above all else, I’m totally addicted to the instant results, which you can actually see when the strip is peeled off…the more the better, right? It’s the very gross reality!! My biggest tips for using strips are: 1) exfoliate beforehand; 2) apply warm or hot water before applying the strip; and 3) cut those bad boys up and use them in areas other than the nose—try them on other blackhead prone areas like the chin, for instance.

For years, I always used the most popular pore strip brand—Biore—but once I began frequenting health food stores, I was introduced to a new brand called Clari-T, by Earth Therapeutics. Secret’s out—these things are cheap, use tea tree oil, and work just as well as Biore's strips. But once I got reeeeally addicted to pore strips, the cost began adding up. That’s where the homemade recipe came in…

That’s right—you can cut the costs out of these products by making them at home…the only place you’d wear them, anyhow! Simply combine a teeny bit of generic gelatin and milk; microwave about ten seconds; (test for temperature); apply to blackhead prone areas (using a q-tip or old make-up brush); wait ten or so minutes till the mixture hardens; peel off; and TA-DA! The same ooey-gooey results you love from those store bought strips!

Hopefully this can enhance your beauty routine and budget! Until next time…it’s Tara, wishing you an awesome week!
