Make Masks Your Friend

Hi everyone! It’s Tara here, writing this Tuesday about cleansing facial masks—a tricky and interesting topic, but clearly one of my favorites (as you can see by the avatar image I chose, at left). How often do you use a cleansing mask? And how often do you think you SHOULD use one? I only use them occasionally, like when I’m having “me time,” or when my skin is in serious need of repair. Clearly these aren’t the tricky OR interesting parts of this topic, though...

The thing is, recommending masks can be tricky because people can really despise wearing them (or at least I have friends that can)--they hate the sticky-ness, dry-ness, smell, or sometimes even the heavy feeling, which can be claustrophobic for some. If you’re one of these people, I’d advise you to stop reading this post right now.

Ok, I gave you fair warning…

Because I think masks are the absolute BEST!  At least, for my skin they are. The amount of repair a mask can do in a mere ten minutes is the interesting part—it amazes me every single time I apply (and promise myself to do it more often…only to wait another month or two). My all-time favorite mask right now is REN’s F10 Smooth and Renew Peel Mask. This stuff is gold…and makes my face glow like it. It’s definitely not a peel in the general sense of the word. I actually wash this off like any other mask. And it smells really fresh, like no product I’ve used before! It manages to be gentle (I often use it in the dead of winter, ultimate dry skin time) while also exfoliating a bit, which makes me feel like it does the cleansing part extra-specially well!

This mask came highly recommended to me by various people in the industry, so I thought I’d pass it on to all of you as well. But of course, if there is a cleansing mask you use and love, please share it with us as well!

Until pore refiners (next week), take care!
