Butter for Boobies

Hey Everyone and happy Friday! Welcome to the first week of October.  I'm pretty sure this is one of my favorite months.  Yeah, I'm a Halloween junkie!  But aside from annual scariness another important part of October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

We all think that, "Oh that won't happen to me."  "Cancer is something that happens to other people."  Negative my friends, cancer can happen to anyone.  It does not discriminate against age, race or creed.  Like an angry tornado, it rarely has mercy on its victims.  But for survivors there are organizations that embrace and celebrate the battle that has been overcome.  One of my absolute favorites is, B4BC; Boarding for Breast Cancer http://www.b4bc.org.  They are a non-profit organization that was founded in 1996 with a focus on helping to educate the younger generation about early detection.

B4BC's mission statement is easy:
Early Detection + A Healthy, Active Lifestyle = The Best Prevention

One of the great things that B4BC does is they put together a retreat for survivors. This year it was held in Encinitas, CA.  The Survivor Ocean Retreat is a weekend dedicated to helping these courageous women to rejuvenate and reconnect with their bodies in a natural comfortable environment.  They have the chance to surf, practice yoga, even get massages.  They are truly pampered.  The best part is as the survivor is nominated and scholarships and donations  pay for their weekend.

So now your asking, how can I help?  Well I'm here to share with you how 2 wonderful organizations have teamed up.  If you haven't visited www.hellomellow.com when I talked about their awesome scrubs, now you have the opportunity to go and check out their body butters.  Hellomellow has teamed up with B4BC and will give 5% of your sale of Balance (the purple one) products to B4BC.  It's a win, win!  You get  superior body products and B4BC gets to go out, educate and save lives.

You know when I was little I hated wearing pink.  Now I wear it proudly year round!

Love your sisters, mothers and friends!
Hug away you crazy huggers...

until next week,

Help Aide in the Fight Against Breast Cancer and Get Hollywood Hair!

Happy Wednesday Fabulous Readers!

Jessica
here again! You might already know this by now, but October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The ladies of Certified F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S. decided to review products that we love that also give back. Specifically I review a product where the brand donates a portion of their proceed when you buy ANY of the products they offer. This is something rare, since brands that give back usually only offer one or two products to donate a portion of sales to a charity.

Pristine Beauty donates a portion of ALL product proceeds to  Young Survival Coalition® and the Cancer Prevention Coalition. I was so happy to find out about this brand because I was dying to try their hair care products and it was an extra benefit that a part of my spending spree would help out in some way to cancer prevention and awareness charities.

Being the drama queen that I am I was immediately attracted to the website and product names, since they are Old Hollywood Glamour and film themed :) I am also obsessed with my hair so I searched the product line for hair care and found the Temptress Tote! This has all the hair needs you could ask for in one cute bag; Locks Of Fame Shampoo, Locks Of Fame Conditioner and No Scary Hairy Repair, Condition and Protect Hair Serum. I felt like I got the star treatment when the products actually came in because the presentation was beautiful! The box it was mailed in came with PINK raffia...how could I not love it? The tote perfectly fit the products and came with an adorable note card that read, "A tempting gift for a glamour girl". The products even had old Hollywood glamour girl pictures...totally awesome.

I researched the charities they give part of the proceeds to and I wanted to share with you all a little more information on the two (because we should know where our money goes if a brand claims it is given to a specific charity).

Young Survival Coalition® - Started with the experiences of three young women facing the challenges of battling breast cancer. The founders, all diagnosed with breast cancer before age 35, saw the need for better information, support and research for young women facing this disease. This knowledge and support is so important to have in our society today where more and more women are being diagnosed with breast cancer at young ages.

Cancer Prevention Coalition - is a unique nationwide coalition of leading independent experts in cancer prevention and public health, together with citizen activists and representatives of organized labor, public interest, environmental, and women's health groups. Their goal is to reduce escalating cancer rates through a comprehensive strategy of outreach, public education, advocacy, and public policy initiatives to establish prevention as the nation's foremost cancer policy.

It's a 10!... and It's a Great Cause

Hello fabulous readers! I love this week’s topic, ‘Cosmetics for a Cure’.  What a great concept; to have a portion of the sale of cosmetics go to a great cause or foundation.  I chose a hair product; it’s a 10, miracle leave-inproduct.  It’s a 10 has teamed up with advocate and survivor Christina Applegate’s foundation, Right Action for Women (RAW).  RAW educates women about what it means to be at high risk of breast cancer and provides financial assistance to cover the high cost of advance breast screenings to women most at risk.

The miracle leave-in product is available during the month of October in a hot pink limited edition bottle.  The product claims to do 10 things instantly:

1.      Repairs dry, damaged hair
2.      Adds shine
3.      Detangles
4.      Control frizz
5.      Seals & protects hair color
6.      Prevents split ends
7.      Stops hair breakage
8.      Creates silkiness
9.      Enhances natural body
10.  Flat iron spray & thermal protector

And it does!  I love this product.  Like my beauty criminal bio will tell you, I have naturally curly and sometimes frizzy hair and live for leave-in products that will tame it.  It is really nourishing to my hair, and contains natural ingredients like sunflower seed extract and green tea leaf extract.  I love it and especially love that the proceeds will directly help women with breast cancer screenings.

So why not buy a product this month that promises to give back…. but more importantly, take care of yourself.

Enjoy the day! ~ Amy

My New Favorite Palette

Happy Monday,
Sara

This Month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  We here at Certified Fabulous all decided to go out and find great products that were in some way connected with a good cause.
I chose Breast Cancer Awareness Makeup Palette By Sephora

"Sephora will donate $2 US from the sale of this product to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, with a minimum total donation of $10,000 US in connection with the sale of all participating products in the Sephora/ BCRF campaign."

This Palette is Awesome!!! I absolutely love it.  The colors are great and totally on target for this fall.  The pigment levels are really nice too.  I am getting great color out of the eye shadows, and they are easily blended.    It is a really cute size, it fits perfectly in my purse and I am able to take it with me when I am on the go.  Or just forced to apply my make-up at work because there was no way, by the 3rd kid melt down of the morning I was going to be able to finish getting myself ready and get them to the school bus on time...

But I digress...

The palette is great, and an AMAZING value.  How else can you get
12 lip glosses, 36 eye shadow, 6  blush, in the cutest little carry case : )

Have a great week!

Enjoy
Sara
