Acupuncture at Home...Puts a Smile on my Face!

Happy Wednesday Fabulous Readers!

Jessica back again and as we continue into our Relax month, this week we are talking about Spa Body Treatments. I tried to think outside the box on this one, and so I thought about treatments that I would like to have done, what came to mind right away was acupuncture!

What is acupuncture?  Acupuncture is a type of alternative medicine that treats patients by insertion and manipulation of thin needles in the body. It aims to correct imbalances in the flow of energy (disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease) by stimulation of anatomical locations on or under the skin called acupuncture points. According to ancient beliefs,  it is said to  promote general health, relieve pain, treat infertility, treat and prevent disease. I have always been curious about this and having it done (I have chronic back pain), but also kind of intimidated by the process and having so many needles poked in me!

Okay so how can I get the same benefits and relief without the needles? I looked into this and found a truly amazing alternative! Heavenly Acupressure Mats stimulate your skin and pressure points in your body, which in turn triggers the production of endorphins and oxytocin – your body’s own natural pain-relieving and feel-good hormones, the release of these hormones result in the relief of pain and stress.

FACTS:

  • 100% natural cotton cloth exterior
  • Non-toxic ABS plastic acupressure points (same type of plastic used for Legos)
  • Foam rubber cushioning
  • Size: 29 x 17 x 1 inches
  • Acupressure Points: 8,820

  • It is basically a mat with plastic "picks" all over it. It can be abrasive to use directly on the skin and some people may need to have a clothing buffer between the skin and mat. I absolutely love this though! I walk all over it and it has such an amazing sensation on my feet, it's so hard to describe, but it makes me feel all tingly and fuzzy. After I walk on it (bare feet when I'm feeling brave) it makes my sore, achy feet feel relived of pressure and fatigue. I lay on it and after the recommended 20 minutes (at least) of use and I just feel like pressure has been taken away from my back, it is such a great feeling and I can do this in my own home...anytime I want! Also love using it after a session at the gym :)
The website has a lot of great information about it and it claims to be helpful for people suffering from  Back & Neck Pain, Stress, Anxiety, Insomnia, Poor Blood Circulation, Muscle Tension, Headaches & Migraines, and even excess weight.

I can't say enough about this product, it is one of the greatest things and if you have chronic pain or other aliments...you have nothing to lose, because if you are like me, you have tried it all!
I hope this has helped and please comment if you have feedback on a mat like this or have other remedies you do or if you have tried actual acupressure treatments I want to know all about it! Comment below :)

As always, Keep on Being Beautiful You!
