Jessica here again and continuing the week talking about the subject of Bath Bubbles and Salts. I really never have time for a bath, I like to get clean quick and be done with it! BUT...there are times when I just need to forget the day and relax and nothing feels better than a boiling hot bath :)
If I am taking time to take a bath then I really want the product I put in it to matter in some way. I mean I love bubbles but if it doesn't have something in it to heal, soothe, smooth or make my mood uplifted then what is the point?
An amazing ailment soak I tend to love after working out at the gym, Epsom Salt. They have been used in many generations of my family and has been around FOREVER! Some fun facts: Epsom salt gets its name from the town of Epsom, in the county of Surrey, in England. The residents discovered the substance in the mineral waters of the town in the 16th century. Word of mouth is what helped it gain an influx of popularity and intrigue when a natural spring in the town was said to be therapeutic and healing. The key component of Epsom salt is Magnesium sulfate which is a common mineral in geological environments.
Magnesium Sulfate, when absorbed through the skin, such as in a bath, draws toxins from the body, sedates the nervous system, reduces swelling, relaxes muscles. According to the National Academy of Sciences, American’s magnesium deficiency helps to account for high rates of heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, arthritis and joint pain, digestive maladies, stress-related illnesses, chronic fatigue and a number of other ailments. Our magnesium levels have dropped by half in the last century due to changes in agriculture and diet. Industrial farming has depleted magnesium from soil and the typical American diet contains much less magnesium than that of our forefathers. And in fact, the modern American diet with its fat, sugar, salt and protein actually works to speed up the depletion of magnesium from our bodies.
The most efficient way to increase Magnesium levels in the body is through absorption in the skin, so to boost the depletion in the body I love a good Epsom Salt soak in my tub :) My all time favorite is Dr. Teal's Epsom Salt Soaking Solution, specifically I use the Relax mix which is a blend of Eucalyptus and Spearmint. My ideal bath evening involves candles, relaxing music and a glass of wine...and along with the aromas of Dr. Teal's Relax Epsom Salt in my bath, it truly makes my evening an enjoyable and calming one. I am always glad I make the time for this bath and I hope that you are able to find time for a bath once in a while...not only can it be beneficial to your body but for your spirit as well!
What are YOUR bath necessities?!
I'd love to know what other people do to unwind :)
SHARE!
Until next week...Keep on Being Beautiful You!
