Relax with No Worries...it's Flameless

Hi Folks
It’s Blake and I’m here to talk about scented candles:

I loved scented candles.  I prefer the scent to be natural with no added perfume.  Vanilla and Cinnamon are two of my most favorite scents.   I tried many brands of scented candles till I finally found the best of the best.  My top tick for a scented candle goes to Pilgrim Candles out of Westfield, Ma.  Pilgrim Candles makes the best Vanilla Bean scented candle I’ve ever had the pleasure of burning!!!   I direct ordered from their web site as my local stores did not carry their brand.

I burned scented candles for over 20 years and had no problems until………..Batman moved in.  Yep it was Batman that shut down my ability to have burning candles in the house.  You see, Batman is a cat.  Actually, to be more precise, Batman is a Bengal cat.  Batman has no fear of a burning candle.  They actually fascinate him.   I tried using a squirt gun to train him and guess what – he has no fear of water either!!!  With no way to train or correct the cat I gave up on burning candles as the worry of a fire was just too much.

Today I’m using a 6” pillar vanilla scented Flameless LedReal Wax Candle by Inglow with a 5 hour timer.  This is just like burning a real scented candle but you don’t have the worry of a flame. The results that Inglow came up with are just fantastic. The candle wax is real and is scented.   This candle smells and looks like a real burning candle!  Looking at the candle from a distance of just a few feet you’d think you were seeing a real flame burning candle.  It’s not until after you pick the candle up do you realize that its battery operated.  This is such an absolutely brilliant idea.

Remember take time to enjoy life!

Burn, Baby, Burn!

Hey All, hopefully by now you’re fully recovered from the New Year extravaganza.  I know it’s hard to believe that with all the planning and preparation of the holidays…it’s all OVER!  Personally I’m looking forward to the New Year and so far things have been terrific!

Now contrary to the rest of the country, Southern California has been in the 80’s during the day and beautiful.  In fact, I went to the beach (bikini and all) New Year’s Day.  Crazy!  But at night the temperature drops to low 50’s and it’s time to snuggle up a bit.  What better way to warm your night than lighting a few candles.

In my many years, I’ve have burned everything from religious candles to high end $30 candles.  My Mom used to think I was having a séance in my room.  I just love the warm feeling they give and besides who doesn’t look good in candle light.

Hands down, one of my favorite candles to burn is from SoiCandle Company based in Modesto, CA.  With over 30 scents to choose from it’s hard to choose which is my all time favorite.  Recently, I’ve burned Sweet Magnolia and Island Breeze.  Of course not at the same time, but both just radiate throughout my house.  Another thing that I love about Soi candles is they last a long time . I should also add that when you blow out the flame, you can use the soy wax as a hand moisturizer or massage oil if you’re feeling frisky.  They have several different sizes to choose from.  Take Soi with you with their 2oz travel tins or stay at home with their 16oz jars that burn for up to 140 hours… HELLO!

What I like about Soi is how conscience they are about how their candles effect the environment. With Soi Candles you don’t have the disgusting soot that is sometimes left over when you burn other candles.  Don’t you just wonder what you’re actually breathing in?  Soi uses 100% FDA approved, kosher soy oil that burns cleaner and longer than paraffin wax.  Did you know that even food grade paraffin has carcinogens in it?  Yep!  So when you’re picking a candle to set the mood with your loved one, might want to think again what it’s made of- well unless they have a high life insurance policy… I’M KIDDING!

Happy Birthday to King of Burning Love… Elvis!
Cheers…

Scented Candles that Brighten your Mood

Jessica
Happy New Year and Happy Wednesday Fabulous Readers!

Yes, it is Wednesday and the first official full week back after the holidays. So to lift your spirits this week we are talking about scents that relax you after a long, stressful work day. In fact, all of January is Relax month as we will discuss at home spa treatments and remedies to put you in a good space again!

I love scented candles, who doesn't?? They make your home smell amazing and are perfect ambiance for when you have company over. Different people do like different degrees of scent however, meaning some like strong powerful fragrance consuming the air of the home (that would be me) and other like just a hint of scent throughout the house. It is easy to achieve the level you want by how long you let a candle burn.

Occasionally I will light incents, but they have their own distinct scent and I have to be in the mood for that. Primarily I have two ways to scent my home, a small plug-in Scentsy unit and scented candles.

Now I am sure by now most of you know what Scentsy is, probably have gone to some of the party people have or seen it in someone's home. These things are awesome! I only have the plug-in, but it works so well! It's basically a plug in unit with a bulb in it that melts wax blocks you put into the top. They have TONS of scents to choose from. The blocks of wax last for a while, depending on how often or how long you keep it on. I usually put it on as soon as I get home and leave it on for a few hours then turn it off. When you feel like the wax no longer has scent to it you just pop it out and put a fresh block in. Scentsy has a huge variety of the wax bricks, but when I want a new scent now it is easy to just go to Walmart and pick up their version of the Scentsy bricks. They have a collection by Home and Garden wax blocks that are equally as amazing with the scents. I currently have Blueberry Muffin (which makes me crave blueberry muffins as soon as I turn it on!), Warm Crackling Camp Fire (another favorite), Lemongrass (I save for spring/summer), and Spice Cake (another mouth watering scent that causes cravings...be careful). It is plugged into my kitchen so it scents the kitchen and bathroom very nicely.

What I use to scent the rest of my apartment (entryway, living room and bedroom) is a scented candle. When I can splurge (because I feel like it's crazy to spend more than $6 on a candle sometimes) I tend to go for the Yankee Candle collections. However, this time while I was out shopping with a friend before Christmas and she convinced me to go in on a holiday deal at Bath and Body Works, two candles for $20. Seemed crazy to spend $10 on a candle but I was feeling festive and I did need a new scented candle so I went in on the deal with her. After a hard choice of scents I choose the Fire Wood one and my friend picked the aromatherapy Stress Relief - Eucalyptus Spearmint candle. As soon as I got home I lit my candle and it immediately scented my place and it was...WOW, amazing! My friend had her's going when I went to visit her on New Years Eve and that also was truly a mood booster. It is such a relaxing and refreshing feeling to have a candle going and to fee the warm scents that surround you. It makes me feel so cozy on cold winter nights :)

I hope these recommendations helped and you stay warm, cozy and relaxed after your work day! What are some of your favorite scents for your home??? I would LOVE to know.

Until next time, Keep on Being Beautiful YOU!

Scents of the New Year

Hi everyone, and Happy First Tuesday of 2012!  It’s Tara here, to discuss one of my all time favorite Certified Fab topics thus far—scented candles and room sprays!

While January is known to be the time of New Years resolutions, I think it’s also a good time to take some much needed time to yourself and relax—with holiday partying and stress behind, we’re finally (hopefully) able to do this a bit.

As I’ve mentioned in the past, I love taking some time to turn off when possible—and whether this means drawing a bath, reading a book, or even meditating, I’m almost always joined by a scented candle.  I’ve searched high and low for awesome candles, and I even collected them there for a while.  Luckily, now that I’m a student again, I have quite a few lying around from before—so I don’t need to drop a pretty penny on new ones.

After searching high and low, my two all time favorites are by Cire Trudon and Astier de Villatte.  Besides the unfortunately hefty price tag, these two candles share some attributes I’ve become addicted to.  For one, the candles are made of vegetable or bees wax (not paraffin), and their wicks are made of cotton (no lead), so they burn very clean.  Also, their scents are unique, even (not over bearing), and literally to…die…for!  There’s a scent for every mood and occasion!  The two I love are Cire’s Dada (a confusing mix of tea, vetiver, and a couple other scents, named after the surrealist Dada art movement) and then Astier’s Mantes-La-Jolie, which is much more fresh, floral, and pretty, with eucalyptus and herbs (I find great when I need a boost getting ready to go out at night!).

While I don't know much about aromatherapy, I do believe that scents can transform our minds and moods.  I hope you can find a relaxing, uplifting, or even inspiring scent for yourself in 2012!

Silky Smooth in the New Year!

Sara
Happy New Year!!! It is the first Monday into the new year and the weather is beautiful... almost too nice for this time of year :)

I truly hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable New Years Eve and Day!

Hair is something we have been talking about for a while now and I have been trying a number of products recommended to me...

I have tried some hair masks lately that feel great and my hair is shiny and amazingly silky smooth like fekkai technician salon technician color care rapid results moisture mask.

My Personal Disclaimer :) If you have just dyed your hair red it is my recommendation to stay away from some of these treatments... Red fades soooo fast and in my experience the more products you put in your hair the faster is fades....  I have not found this to be true of any other color as much as red...

I wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year!!!!
